Anita Pauline Olson, 69

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their dear loved one, Anita Olson, on July 9th, 2015 at the Rainy River Hospital.
Anita was born in Fort Frances, ON, on May 24, 1946 to Paul & Mathilda Cote. She was united in marriage to Gordon Olson on May 29th, 1965 in Dryden, ON. They started a family and lived in Dryden until 1976, at which time they moved to Thompson, MB. In 1977, Gordon and Anita decided to “move home” to Bergland, ON, where they worked and raised their family for the next 37 years.

Mom had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid and talented gardener, baker, seamstress, quilter, knitter, and crocheter.
Many people in the area were beneficiaries of her baking, and she was well known for her delicious perogies, cabbage rolls, bread, and especially her pies. No one was more gifted by her talents than her family, for whom she was constantly baking, mending clothes, and making quilts, toques, and pajamas. Most of all, Mom loved her family; her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be remembered most for her kindness, and her warm and giving heart.
Mom is survived by her husband and best friend of over 50 years, Gordon; her children, Scott (Janice) of Rainy River, ON, Kelly (Kim) of Stratton, ON, Shannon (Jason) of Winnipeg, MB; sister Adrienne (Ralph) of Bergland, ON, brothers Leo (Rachel) of Terrace, BC, Denis (Carol) of Oxdrift, ON, and John (Laurie) of Dryden, ON. She will be lovingly missed by grandchildren Kyle, Kira, Emma, Ben, Lucas, Sam, and Jake, as well as many nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Mathilda Cote, father and mother-in-law Art and Thelma Olson, and nephews Jimmy Olson and Leon Cote.
