Verna Pearl Barsy, 80

Sadly the family announces the passing of Verna Pearl Barsy, 80, of Rainy River, ON on October 1, 2015 at the Rainy River Long Term Care Facility.
Verna was born in Sleeman, ON to Holgar and Fanny Armstrong. Verna was very active in the community, belonging to many groups and associations, including the Rainy River Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, serving as Auxiliary President for 8 years, Rainy River Curling Club, Red Hatters, Rainy River Knox United Church, Rebecca Lodge, and Eastern Star.

She worked at various businesses over the years including Lowes Lumber, Town of Rainy River, The Cloths Closet, Rainy River Drugs and the CN Beanery. She enjoyed curling, watching the Blue Jays, baseball and going to the cabin with Gerry. She loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews and families.
She will be greatly missed by her special friend Gerry Marchuk, her siblings Stanley (Linda) Armstrong, Gordon (Jeanette) Armstrong, Phyllis (Don) Lewis, Donna (Herb) Govier, sister in laws Darlene Armstrong and Diane Armstrong and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Verna was predeceased by her parents Holgar and Fanny, her brothers Norman (Bobby) Armstrong and Ron Armstrong , her infant brothers William and Charles and her husband Alex Barsy.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday October 8, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. at the Rainy River Knox United Church, where a Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday October 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Frances Flook Officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Rainy River, ON.
Honouray Pall Bearers will be Calvin Armstrong, Tom Armstrong, Danny Armstrong, Jimmy Armstrong, Corrie Govier, Russell Govier, Jeff Marchuk, Colton Marchuk, and Reece Marchuk.
