Government moves closer to sharing border entry/exit info. with USA

Town buys a new grader

By Ken Johnston Editor Rainy River Town Council met Monday evening to conduct its regularly monthly business. The agenda was a typical summer agenda, very light with the meeting only taking 28 minutes. Council did spend some money, buying a new grader for the public works crew to use around town. It cost $40,000 with trade-in rebates of $5,000. Read more...

New RR school nixed by Min. of Ed.

The Rainy River District School Board received a letter from the Ministry of Education denying the board’s proposed business case under the 2015-2016 School Consolidation Capital Grant program for the construction of a new K-12 public school in Rainy River. Guatemala Day in Rainy River promotes a cause

By Ken Johnston Editor For the past decade volunteers from the Rainy River District have been travelling to Guatemala, South America, to help provide a better life for its impoverished citizens. Last Saturday about 40 people from the district gathered at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River to hold their first ever Guatemala Day!

Flag Day honoured all veterans buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery

The first Flag Day in Rainy River drew a crowd of about 40. They stood in the rain in Forest Lawn Cemetery as Rainy River Legion President Walter Wagner, who also organized the event, spoke about and thanked all the veterans buried there. Iris McQuaker Memorial Garden dedicated last Friday

By Lucinda Meyers Principal I had been developing a landscaping plan for the front of the school with Paul Olsen, a local landscaper. As we were working through the plan I received a call from Dixie Watson, the daughter of Iris McQuaker. Iris had taught at Riverview School for many years and they wanted to honor her memory.
