Anyone heard of Robert Woodburn?

Letter to the Editor,
I am currently researching my family tree.
My great uncle Robert Woodburn travelled from Manchester, England to Plumas, Manitoba in about 1899 and then on to Rainy River in 1900 to work on the railway there,
Unfortunately, he ceased writing to my family and all contact was lost with him in about 1901. Does anyone have any records of workers who helped build the railway at around that time or know what might have become of him?
We are trying to establish what happened to him, and whether he actually died in the harsh environment or if he may have moved over the border into the USA.
Any information would be gratefully received.

–Yours hopefully,
Lynda Jones
