Edward Kenneth (Ken) Olson, 71
Edward (Ken) Olson, aged 71 years, of Fort Frances, Ontario passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
He was born on March 12, 1933 in Bergland, Ontario to the late Godfrey and Mary Olson. On August 11, 1954, Ken was united in marriage to the former Donalda Patterson. He worked as a Correctional Officer at the Fort Frances District Jail for 25 years until his retirement. Throughout the years, Ken received a great deal of enjoyment from his hunting, trapping fishing and the outdoors in general. At home, whether it was in Bergland or Fort Frances he also enjoyed gardening. Ken participated with enthusiasm within his church and its activities. He also loved family outings, as his family meant a great deal to him. Ken was truly a devoted family man who cared for family as well as everyone that he knew.
He was predeceased by one son Dan William Olson, one grandson Lesly William Douglas Wagner and one brother Lloyd Olson.
Ken is survived by his wife Donalda Olson of Fort Frances, ON; three sons Kenneth Olson and wife Jo, and Douglas Olson and wife Patsy all of Fort Frances, ON and Kurtis Olson and wife Val of Tupelo, Mississippi; and four daughters Debra and husband Donald Wagner of Fort Frances, ON; Katherine and husband George Nyberg of Cass Lake, MN, Dawn Olson of Baudette, MN and Kaylene and husband Bob Johnson of Bergland, ON.
He is also survived by two brothers Robert Olson and wife Jo of Kamloops BC and Richard Olson and wife Elmerna of Sparwood, BC; four sisters Geraldine and husband Bill Bruce of Sparwood, BC; Phyllis and husband Brown Kaplar and Marilyn a nd husband Clay Coulson all of Provo, Utah, and Evelyn and husband Leonard Rencher of Bergland, ON, and also by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held, on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bergland, Ontario.
President Daniel Davis will officiate with interment in the Bergland Cemetery in Bergland, Ontario.
Friends visited from 1 until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bergland, Ontario.
The active pallbearers were Kenneth E. Olson, Douglas G. Olson, Kurtis W. Olson, George M. Nyberg, Donald D. Wagner and Robert A. Johnson.
