Lots of anglers but few fish at Kids' RRWT

The KidSport RRWT proved again this year to be even more popular than last years!
Organizers planned for 85 kids and 87 showed up!
However, just like the adult RRWT fishing was tough this year. In the first flight, ages 7 and under, more than 50 kids fished for 30 minutes and were skunked.
So to crown a champion they drew a name out of a hat. Caiden Day was named champ and won a fishing rod/reel combo. 2nd, a tackle box went to Randy Wood. 3rd, binoculars went to Jayden Asselin and 4th a football went to Brayden McCormick.
In the second flight, 8 and up, about 40 kids fished for 45 mins. They managed to catch two fish! Ivory Armstrong landed the first one, an 11 inch sauger and Chandler Pearson caught a 14 inch walleye. Pearson was named champ and received a trophy and a rod/reel combo. 2nd went to Ivory Armstrong, 3rd to Joey Halverson for reeling up a golf ball scooper and 4th to Noah Nault for catching a hook with a wt. on it.
Long time sponsors of the event, Holly Hanson and Wayne Holmes were honoured for going above and beyond the call of duty in sponsoring the event. KidSport chair Rebecca Tolen presented them with a plaque. Hanson and Holmes business in Vermilion Bay recently burned down with all the prizes for the KidSport RRWT in it. But they spoke to suppliers and fast tracked some prizes to the event.
