Dave Ducasse, formerly of Rainy River, did extremely well at the provincial special olympics in Sault Ste. Marie two weekends ago.
Ducasse, now of Fort Frances, helped residents there lay a claim to fame for 11 medals as he and three other special olympians competed in several events.
Ducasse competed in the 30 and up division and won gold in the long jump and silver in the 200 m and 1500 m races.
Other competitors traveling with Ducasse to the games included Ray Bedard, Lisa Gushulak and Arlan Scott. Bedard brought home a gold medal in the 50m and the 200 m dashes for 30 and up, silver in the long jump and a bronze in the shot put. Scott also competed in the 30 and up and won bronze in the 50m and 200 m races. Gushulak won a gold in long jump and bronze in the 100m race.
