Enar Ronald Engstrom, 69

Surrounded by the love of his family, Enar Ronald Engstrom age 69 years, passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol, and his children, Kris (Laurie), Paul (Karen), Karen, and James (Dinah).
Enar had a great love for his family and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Erik, Amy, Aidan, and Connor. He is also survived by his sisters Elly Zub, Doris (Lawrence) Calder and Mabel (El) Plymate, as well as Carol's brothers and sisters, Maxine (Bud) Ronald, Graig (Dolores) Boileau, Pat (Roland) DuMontet, Tom (Betty) Fleming and Lyle (Linda) Fleming and many nieces and nephews.
Enar was born in Fort Frances ON, April 2 1934. He grew up in "The Fort" where he met and married the love of his life Carol Fleming. They moved to Winnipeg in 1965 where the family put From page ten
down roots in Transcona. Enar worked for Environment Canada, Water Survey, for 29 years. It was a career that took him as well as his family to many fascinating places including a 3 year stint in the arctic.
Enar retired from Environment Canada in 1994 and was able to spend many happy hours helping his children with their home renovations and working on projects at the lake. Enar built his "Stuga" (cabin) from scratch, and made it into a home away from home for his family. Enar had a deep and abiding love for the Rainy River District and he especially enjoyed the Lake of the Woods area and his cabin. He always said he didn't have time to watch TV in the summer because he had to make sure the sun set properly each evening. Enar loved gardening, curling, reading, taking his family out fishing and tooting around the lake in his pontoon boat. He has passed on the secret family recipe for pickled herring and "Enar's Dills" to his children and grandchildren.
Enar was a quiet, fun-loving man who treasured his family above all. He will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will take place at Blessed Sacrament Church,425 Rosseau E. Wpg. on June 4, 2003 at 11: 00 AM.
