Riverview captures silver at Devlin tourney
By Mark Jodoin
Coach
Over this past weekend, the girl’s volleyball team from Riverview traveled to Crossroads School in Devlin to take part in a tournament.
A record of four wins and one loss earned them top spot after the round robin which gave them a birth into the finals. Wins were over Mine Center, Crossroads, Sturgeon Creek, and St. Pats, from Atikokan. Their only loss was against Robert Moore from Fort Frances.
Robert Moore earned a birth into the finals after a close 2 games to 1 victory over Mine Center in the semi-final match. This set up an excellent match between Riverview and Robert Moore. The first game was won by Robert Moore, but Riverview came back with a win in the second game. In the end, Robert Moore took the gold with a solid effort in the third game.
Both the boy’s and girl’s teams from Riverview will be taking part in the regional tournament this coming weekend at Fort Frances High School. Our girl’s team will be defending their regional championship title.
