Twice the fun is how we do it!
Twice the fun!
That is probably the best way to answer the question I get asked every once in a while.
People meet my fiancee and ask us how we do it. Living 100 miles away from each other for the past four years is sometimes challenging, but for the most part it has been working, and in many cases is twice the fun!
Kim and the kids came up over the weekend to celebrate some of Christmas early.
Friday after they arrived we proceeded to put the tree up at my house. We turned on Christmas music, shared stories of tree decorating fun from when we were younger with the kids and just had plain fun!
Two weekends before that we did the same thing at her house.
The same holds true for many other events. We celebrate two Thankgivings, two countries' birthdays (July 1st and 4th) and often celebrate family members birthdays both in Bemidji and in Rainy River.
We try to go back and forth as much as we can and usually manage three out of the four weekends in an average month. Those months are the easy ones.
Sometimes work for her, me or both of us, keeps us apart for four or five weeks. Those ones are tough but when we get back together we quickly forget about being separated and have twice the fun again!
–Until then,
Ken
