Keepng the competitive spirit alive

It is in our nature to be competitive.
So when we choose to follow a sports team it is usually when they are at their best that we decide that they will be "my team!"
As a young boy the only professional sport that mattered to me was NHL hockey. At that time the Montreal Canadiens were winning Stanley Cup after Stanley Cup. Hence, I was a fan.
I followed them intensely but became disenfranchised with them and for that matter the sport when the league expanded and allowed the soon to be dynasty Edmonton Oilers and others into the game.
The Canadiens lost their lustre and I drifted away from being their fan.
I did not get back into hockey for about a decade. When I did, I decided I had to pick one of the original six teams and settled on Toronto who was playing not bad at the time.
I also decided I would stick with the Leafs through thick and thin and be a "true" fan.
I have managed to hold true to that to this day! But with so many losing seasons, I had to find a way to keep my competitive spirit alive.
About 20 years ago I discovered the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team and not long after that began following the Minnesota Vikings football team.
I figured that by having many teams to cheer for, that at least one, would have a decent competitive season, and for the most part it has kept me from doldrums.
There have been a few years where all three teams stunk, but I have learned to take the bad with the good.
