Runners Shivered on the River!

The weather lived up to the name of Rainy River’s annual winter 5 km. Monday. 11 participants definitely “Shivered on the River!”
The route for the 5 km. Shiver on the River began at the Rainy River Recreation Centre. Participants then ran west to First St. and then south to the Rainy River. From there they ran to the International Bridge and back to First St. They then ran the final leg of the run up First and back to the finish line at the Rec. Centre.
Running back from the bridge, most found it extremely challenging as there was a sharp east wind howling down the river.
First male back was Bryan Hasbargen of Baudette, MN. with a time of 21.24. He was followed by the first female overall, Saragh Fraser of Rainy River with a time of 23.54.
The rest of the results are as follows:
Ages 12 and under:
1st Male-Jack Wood of RR with a time of 29:36. He was also the youngest runner of the event at the age of six!
1st Female-Lara Wood of RR with a time of 30:10
2nd Female-Elizabeth Fraser of RR-30:48
3rd Female-Rebecca Fraser of RR-36:16
Ages 13-18

First place winners received medals and a pedometer. Second place winners received a pedometer.
