The Moody Chorale, conducted by Mr. Tim Stafford of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, will be performing on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Rainy River Covenant Church, Rainy River, ON.
Founded in 1946, the Moody Chorale has long been established as one of the leading collegiate choral organizations in the United States specializing in sacred music. Its purpose is to minister the Word of God through music, leading men and women in the worship of our Creator and Redeemer. The ensemble’s repertoire includes a broad range of music chosen from all periods of music history. The Chorale tours the United States twice a year and tours abroad occasionally during the summer, ministering to and encouraging various churches and missionaries. Previous summer tours have included Great Britain, Europe, Australia, East Asia, Israel, Guatemala, and South Africa; the Chorale’s most recent tour abroad ministered to the United Kingdom and the British Isles in May 2010.
Tim Stafford, interim conductor, graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Northwestern University. Tim was a member of the Moody Chorale from 1996-2001, and since that time has worked closely with the previous conductor, Professor Gerald Edmonds, in a variety of roles as conductor and church musician. He has also been on the music staff at The Moody Church since 2001, becoming Pastor of Music Ministries in September of 2008. Tim is also a frequent worship leader with Moody’s Men’s Conferences in Chicago and around the country. As a conductor, vocalist and guitarist, Tim is committed to building up the local church to the glory of God by facilitating corporate worship that is God-directed, transformational and that displays the unity of the Spirit.
The Moody Bible Institute, founded in 1886 by evangelist D.L. Moody, is a non-denominational undergraduate and graduate level institution that educates and trains men and women for Christian service. It is an accredited member of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA). The Music Department has been an integral part of the Institute’s curriculum since its founding. In addition to the Chorale, Moody has three other touring groups: the Women’s Concert Choir, the Men’s Collegiate Choir, and the Symphonic Band.
