Drug charges laid in Rainy River

On the March 16, 2011 the Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team, Thunder Bay Joint Forces Drug Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Rainy River Detachment Officers and the OPP Northwest Region K-9 Unit executed a search warrant in Rainy River, Ontario. As a result of police investigation, police seized a substantial quantity of money as well as a large quantity of prescription medication including Oxycodone tablets, codeine tablets and methylphenidate tablets (Ritalin). The estimated street value of all the drugs is $4,410.00.Marcel Gouliquer, age 57, of Rainy River has been charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and is scheduled to appear in Rainy River criminal court in May 2011.
On March 16, 2011 police conducted two investigations in which they seized a substantial amount of marihuana. Officers seized 34 marihuana plants and 674 grams of dried marihuana bud from a residence in Rainy River, estimated street value $47,480.00. In addition, officers seized 186 grams of dried marihuana bud from a residence in Emo, estimated street value $3,720.00. These matters are still under investigation.
