Kenora and RR agencies set to merge
News Release
Kenora-Patricia Child and Family Services (K-PCFS) in partnership with Family and Children's Services of the
District of Rainy River (FACSRR) would like to announce that the final hurdle barring their formal amalgamation has been overcome. This week the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) informed both agencies that the government will cover the costs incurred as a result of the amalgamation process. In addition MCYS has also confirmed that they will cover FACSRR's in year deficit, along with their historical debt. This ensures that the new amalgamated agency, Kenora-Rainy River Districts Child and Family Services, will begin their new life debt free.
Given these developments both agencies can now proceed with formal board motions affirming their intentions to amalgamate, the requisite legal documents will be signed and submitted to the various regulatory authorizes for approval. This process should take six to eight weeks. Both agencies are excited that the end toward our new beginning is nearing fruition.
