Plans are well underway for the 6th Annual Rainy River Trade Show.
Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce members, Walter Wagner and Andrew Hartnell are getting things organized for the event which has been moved to a later date than past years.
Chamber Vice-president Walter Wagner said, “We moved it later (May 14th) in hopes of having warmer weather.”
Three years ago the event was on a day where 18 inches of snow fell and late April the arena is always damp and still quite cold inside. It is hoped that three weeks later will improve the temperature and moisture levels in the Rainy River Arena.
Last year they had 56 booths and about 600 members of the public attend the event. They are hoping for the same numbers or even better this year. Hartnell is taking the registrations and has committment from more than a dozen exhibitors already. Anyone wishing to register their organization or business can call Hartnell at 807-852-4551 or email him at andrew_hartnell@hotmail.com.
Hartnell said they already know the canteen at the arena will be open but they are also looking for other food booths to be out in the arena.
Wagner said that one table and two chairs as well as electricity will be available for booth renters. “But we want them to bring their cords and any extra tables or chairs they will need.” Small booths are 8’X12’ and large ones are 8’X24’. There is a discount for members of the Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce.
