George Franklin Yeo, 86
It is with great sadness that the family of George Yeo announces his passing on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the Rainy River Hospital in Rainy River, Ontario.
George was born on September 29,1917 in Summerside, P.E.I. to Samuel and Rebecca Yeo.
As a young man he enlisted with the Canadian Army and served in Canada during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Major Hughes Branch 54. In 1950 he moved to Ontario; settling in Rainy River in 1957. He was employed by Weston Bakeries until 1972, then he and his wife Gladys managed Bull Moose Lodge in Nestor Falls on Crow Lake. In 1988 they retired and built their cabin on Crow Lake, where they spent every summer. George truly enjoyed his summers there. George had a great sense of humour and will be well remembered for his stories and his jokes. He loved his family deeply and was always helping them in any way he could.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 51 years, Gladys,; children, Garth and wife Terri of Rainy River, Grant and wife Sandy of Fort Frances, Gordon and wife Dina of Thunder Bay, Carol and husband Carl MacDonald of P.E.I.; grandchildren Jeff, Jenna, Jason, Sammy, Dusty, Sarah, Darlene, Scott and Cory; great grandchildren Kirsten, Meagan, and Danielle. He will also be missed by brothers Lloyd (Jean), Jack (Jean) all of P.E.I. and Prowse (Clara) of B.C. George was predeceased by his parents, 4 sister and 3 brothers.
Following George’s wishes there will be no funeral, cremation has taken place at Riverside Crematorium in Thunder Bay, Ontario. A private family service will take place at a later date.
