Thursday May 5th is National STOP! Clean Your Hands Day. As a participant in the campaign, Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. wishes to remind all employees and visitors of the importance of cleaning their hands in reducing healthcare associated infections.
Jodi Jewell, Occupational Health/Infection Control Nurse, stresses the importance of cleaning your hands; “Simple hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of germs. Riverside has installed alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations throughout our facilities. They are located at all entrances, in hallways and outside patient rooms”.
Anne Marie Vanderaa, Manager In-patient Units and Director Nursing Education, adds that “Riverside will be involving patients and families in supporting good hand hygiene practices. We will be encouraging patients to ask staff if they have washed their hands before providing care”.
Whether you are a patient, family member or visitor, your role in supporting proper hand hygiene is important. Please use the hand sanitizing stations upon entering and before leaving our facilities.
