Henry Casper Jensson, 74

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden tragic passing of Henry Casper Jensson on November 23, 2003. He was 75 years old. His dog Rex, his best companion, died by his side.
Henry was born to Casper and Clara Jensson on November 4, 1928 in Baudette, Minnesota. He lived his entire life on his farm in McInnes Creek, 15 miles north of Rainy River. He attended Spohn #1 school. He started farming at a young age and farmed until he retired at age 65. He married Katherine Gibbons in 1962. She passed away July 9, 2000.
He was a patient mild mannered man. He loved to talk to people. Everyone he visited with was made to feel welcome. Conversations were interesting as he knew the happenings of the world. He understood people. Common sense and practicality was his approach to life and dealing with others.
Farming necessitated him to develop many skills. Mechanically inclined he repaired his own machinery. He had a sawmill where he cut and sawed lumber. He was his own carpenter, building whatever was required for the farm. He cleared land off his 600 acre farm providing fields for crops and hay for his hereford cattle. For farmers in the area he hauled cattle. During winter months he spent some time harvesting wood. He had a trap line and cabin. Lake of the Woods was a source of pleasure as he loved fishing and taking people out on the lake.
His pride and joy was his son and family. In his later years he often drove to Keewatin to visit them and his sisters. All of his family considered a visit to Henry’s farm a very special treat.
Henry will be sadly missed by his only child Hugh, his daughter-in-law Aurea (Dufresne), grandchildren April, Rochelle, Jake and Nicholas; his sisters Ilene Grouda Sutherland (Don), Caroline (Bill) Gate, Aunt Stella Jensson, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His favourite roll was grandpa. He goes to join his beloved parents, his sisters, Doris Daignault and Viola Jensson (Wall-Minchau).
A celebration of Henry’s life was held Monday December 1, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the McInnes Creek Chapel.
