Spruce Creek Golf Course held its first 9 hole tournament of the season on Saturday, May 28.
The rain held off for the most part and though the numbers were small and the weather cold, everyone managed to have a good time.
Closest to the pin was won by Oliver Gibbins.
Pat Gibbins made the the longest putt on number 9 and also collected the prize for the hidden score.
Mel Durie won the prize for being the “most honest.”
Wes Big George came in second for the day.
Oliver Gibbins and Robert Handorgan split the prize for the honour of winning the tournament.
It is due to our generous sponsors that we are able to offer larger monetary prizes this year.
Gold sponsors are Bergland Store, Big Island First Nation, Buena Vista Resort, E.T.A Contracting, Lake of the Woods Township, Lowes Lumber, Gill’s Morson Marina, Mylies, Stratton Equipment, Tompkins Hardware and Zig’s Place. Silver sponsors the year are Kreger Sales, Miller Contracting, and Stratton Service. Bronze sponsor is Sunset Country Pest Control.
The next Spruce Creek tournament will an 18 hole event on Saturday, July 30 and then another 9 hole on Sunday August 28, during the Morson Bass International.
