Body of second boater found on Lake of the Woods

(Kenora, On.) On Monday May 23, 2011 Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of overdue boaters in the Morson area on Lake of the Woods. Two males out fishing in a 16’ boat had not come off the lake before dark as expected. The OPP Marine Unit from Kenora was activated and attended the area in search of the boaters.

On Tuesday May 24, 2011 officers located one deceased male on shore. He was subsequently identified as 73 year old James WEALTHER from Addison Illinois.

On June 12, 2011 the body of the second male boater was located by the OPP Marine Unit on shore in the Morson area on Lake of the Woods. The deceased has been identified as 69 year old Richard HERMANN of Peoria Illinois.
