Our Lady of the Way celebrates the Class of 2011

Our Lady of the Way Grade Eight Graduation ceremonies were held on the evening of Wednesday, June 22.
Drew Smith was the recipient of the “Proficiency in Ojibwe Award” which is given to the student who achieves high academic standing in Ojibwe and who shows an interest in Ojibwe cultural activities. Drew also won the “Greatest Overall Improvement Award”.
Emily O’Connor was presented with the “Computer Technology Award” which is given to the student who demonstrates creativity and entrepreneurship in the technical field and who also demonstrated leadership, proficiency and willingness to put their expertise to use in the assistance of others. Emily was also awarded the “Parent Council Arts Award”, the “Knights of Columbus Father Florentine Council #9556 Award”, as well as an “Honour Roll” medal for achieving an overall average of over 80%.
This year’s recipient of the “Proficiency in French Award” was given to Rebecca Zimmerman. Rebecca was also presented with “Top Female Athlete”, “The Science Award for Excellence”, “St. Patrick’s Catholic Womens’
League Award”, “The OECTA Award”, “The Northwest Catholic District School Board Award”, “Honour Roll”, as well as “The Principal's Award”.
Gavin Brumwell was given the “Top Male Athlete” award for a student who displays athletic ability, good sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship. Gavin also won the “Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Womens’ League” bursary.
The evening was attended by family and friends of the students, as well as Our Lady of the Way School staff members and guests. We wish all of the best to our graduates!
