News Release
MNR
A Ministry of Natural Resources enforcement blitz on June 11 in Fort Frances District resulted in a 95 per cent compliance rate, with only 19 charges laid and 18 warnings issued to anglers.
Ministry conservation officers, including the canine services unit, checked 788 people on Highway 11 in Couchiching First Nation. Most of those checked were non-residents. Officers checked anglers for compliance with the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act and the Ontario Fishery Regulations.
Both charges and warnings were issued for having more fish than the legal possession limit. Charges were issued for transporting fish possessed illegally and transporting fish that could not be readily identified or counted. Warnings were also issued for improperly packaged fish.
