This year's Rainy River Relay for Life was another big success!
Event co-chair Andrew Hartnell said that the final total came in at $37,357.38. "That is really awesome and means that in the past two years Rainy River has raised over $95,000 for cancer research!"
The event saw twelve teams participate with the top three teams being Curious Girls-$5,966.94, The Cured-$4,211.77 and the Stratton Strutters-$4,168.61.
There were also two "Dream Teams" this year. Those were teams that had more than $3,000 raised and collected plus at least 30 luminaries bought/sold by June 20th. They were Curious Girls with over $5,500 and Les Rouge Rogues (RR Red Hatters) with almost $3,100.
Hartnell said the evening went well with every team participating in all the events.
Nine individuals also had their heads shaved in Cuts for Cancer, raising $2,887.02. Two of those, Haylee Heyens and Adam Johnson raised almost $1,500 and both donated their hair to Locks of Love.
Nearly 500 luminaries were sold, which is about the same as last year.
Overall top individual money raisers for the Relay were Janet Gavel-$855, Vicki Dorrie/Candy Teeple-$750 and Linda Kreger-$730.
