The Rainy River Royals fastball team split their games last week hammering Big Grassy Tuesday and then losing to Sight and Sight on Thursday.
The Royals took an early lead against Big Grassy. Ken Gess started things up with a single. Then Darren Davidson hit a double. That was followed by Don Gall hitting a triple and to finish the order Guy Arpin hit a homerun. Two royals then struck out but that was followed up by Marty Armstrong pegging another over the fence. At the end of the first it was RR 8 and BG 1.
Royal pitcher Murray Armstrong then held BG scoreless for the next two innings. RR added five more runs over the next two to lead 13-1.
In the 4th BG scored 2 runs and held RR scoreless. Both teams had runners reach but could not capitalize on them.
In the top of the 6th BG was shut down after four batters with one being stranded on first base. RR started another 8 run rally to put the game away.
BG picked up one run in the top of the seventh but that was it. RR won 21-4.
On Thursday RR lost for the first time to Sight and Sound 7-0. That win put Sight and Sound atop the league standings at 4-0. RR and Pinewood are tied for second at 3-1.
Action continues at home for RR tonight with Rainy Lake visiting. The Royals will play in Big Island on Thursday.
