Ila raised her family on the farm, and the age-old lifestyle of hard work on the farm was something she took pride in; planting gardens, canning & freezing, doing barn chores and providing a home for her family. In her later years enjoying knitting, gardening, reading and feeding her birds, but her greatest joy was spending time with family & friends, especially her great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 27th at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, Ontario. Pastor Pat White officiated, with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Great granddaughter Janine Webb and granddaughter Michelle Ziliotto read scriptures and granddaughters Karen Davis and Corinne Webb gave the eulogy, a tribute to their Grandma’s life and the memories the family has to comfort them.
Ila was carried to her final resting place by her grandsons, Dean & Curtis Wiersema, Shane Selman, Mark Davis, Brad Webb and Mark Ziliotto.
We can’t have old days back,
When we were all together,
But secret treasures and
loving thoughts,
Will be with us forever.
Looking back with memories,
Upon the path you trod,
We bless the hours we had
with you,
And leave the rest with God.
