Vandals wreak havoc in Morson

On July 15, 2011, Rainy River District OPP responded to a tourist resort in Morson, Ontario following the report of a break and enter. When police arrived at the resort it was determined that over a two day period culprits entered the resort cabins but also broke into several homes within the same area. Damage to all the building structures, interiors and contents is estimated to be over $100,000.
The officer attended the resort and was able to get a description of four youth responsible for the crimes, it was believed they were still in the area. A search of the area proved successful as the officer located the individuals responsible and made the arrests. Northwest Region Emergency Response and K-9 Units attended the scene as support to detachment members and helped to transport the youth to Fort Frances Detachment.
Rainy River District OPP Scenes of Crime officer attended the incident locations to take photographs and document evidence for the investigation.
As a result, four youth have been charged with several counts of criminal offences including:
Break and enter with the intent to commit an indictable offence
Break and enter to a dwelling house
Fail to comply with court order
Possession of stolen property
All four youth have been released from custody by way of an undertaking before a police officer and are ordered to appear before Fort Frances Court on August 22, 2011.
