Who will be crowned Emo Fair Queen this week?
SARAH GLOVER
Hey, everyone, my name is Sarah Glover. I am 15 years old and will be attending Grade 11 at Fort Frances High School in the fall. I am the proud daughter of Billie-Jo and Chris Dittaro. I also have a younger brother, Jace (sometimes
we don’t get along, but I still love him). I would like to thank Jackie Lampi-Hughes of Energy Fitness for being my sponsor, and for all the support from her and the staff at Energy. I have played for two years on the Muskie junior girls’ basketball and volleyball teams, and I was lucky enough to be a member of the Region 1 volleyball team and played in the 2010 Ontario Summer Games in Sudbury. The games were an experience of a lifetime! I’m also part of the FFHS mentoring committee and a member of the FFHS “Saving Faces,” which is a group trying to help developing countries by fundraising. For the past two years, I have participated in the “30-Hour Famine,” which supports this cause. I also enjoy playing soccer, hanging out with my friends, and riding our bikes around town, and I love listening to music. I would like to wish my fellow contestants good luck, and want you to know that I’m pumped to be spending the summer with all you girls! Can’t wait to see you all at the Emo Fair in August. Be there or be square. It is going to be an awesome summer! Thanks, as well, to everyone who has bought a button from me. Your support is greatly appreciated!
KAYLEE HEYENS
Hey, everyone, I’m Kaylee Heyens and am so excited to finally be running for Emo Fair Queen! After three summers of chickening out, I’ve got up the courage and decided it’s now or never because I’m going into Grade 12 at Rainy River High School in the fall. I’m turning 17 this summer and cannot wait to be driving on my own by the end of July! I was born and raised out in the country, just between Barwick and Stratton. My parents are Paul and Donna Heyens, and I am the youngest of six children, which has been quite an experience if you ask me but so much fun! Plus, having 10 nieces and nephews as of right now is pretty cool! When I’m not pumping gas at Stratton Service, you can find me spending time with my friends and family. I also love to be outside and active playing many different sports, such as basketball, soccer, and curling. Extracurricular activities are definitely how I spend a lot of my time. I love being involved in my school and community. The past two years I have been co-vice-president of the student council at my school, and also have helped with way too many activities to name, ranging from games to promoting school spirit and leadership, to dances and even prom! I’d like to thank my sponsor, Beaver Mills Market of Rainy River, and the owners, Sandra Campbell, Kristie Tesarsky, and Donny Tolen, for all their help and support. Also my parents, and other family and friends, specifically Jaylene Anderson, Kasey Tesarsky, and Rylee Mowe. I’m really looking forward to getting to know each and every girl running for fair queen with me. Good luck, ladies. I know we’ll have a blast this summer!
ELIZABETH STEELE
Hey! My name is Elizabeth Steele. I turned 17 in July, and I live in Emo with my parents, Jim and Tina Steele, and my sister, Jessica. I will be going into Grade 12 in the fall. I then plan on going to college to become an environmental technician when I graduate. I’m currently working at Cloverleaf, and have been a member of the Muskie cheerleading team for about three years now. In my spare time, I like to hang out with friends and go to the Mekong for supper. My sponsor is Keith Smith Trucking. I would like to thank Keith and Sadie for supporting me. I’m extremely excited to be a part of the event this year. It definitely will be something new to experience, and I will be looking forward to making memories that will last a lifetime with the other contestants! Good luck to all you girls
