"Stitches" is gearing up for big quilt show on Oct. 29th

On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, Stitches, the quilting and/or crafts group that meets at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church resumed it's new fall schedule. Our group meets together on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 to quilt, sew, crochet, knit, make cards, embroider etc. We spend the morning doing our crafts, having coffee, sharing stories, eating bag lunches and enjoying good fellowship.
Our primary purpose is to get out and spend time with others who enjoy doing crafts. It's also a good excuse to get caught up on all the crafts we have stashed away unfinished. We also try to have an influence in our community and our world. Members from our group have made baby blankets for Guatemala and a Shelter house in Winnipeg.
We had the opportunity to donate a quilt to the Rainy River Hospital Auxiliary for fund raising. The Legion ladies are making a goody bag of gifts for their Spring meeting and we have helped them to make some pot holders for this purpose. Family and friends have benefited also from our efforts.
We have had Quilt Shows in the past and are planning to hold one again this fall. October 29, 2011 is the date we have set aside for our Fall Quilt Show. We plan for this event to be a Fundraiser for the Rainy River House, so please come out and support this awesome cause.
Our group is open to anyone interested in joining us. Again, we start at 9:00 on Tuesdays and stay until after lunch or until other commitments take us away. We try to be fairly informal so if you can only stay for an hour or two, that's perfectly alright. Please come and join us.
