Cora Caroline Blanchard (nee Storkson)
AGE 71 - Cora Blanchard, at the age of 71, passed away on July 21st, 2004, surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy battle.
Cora was born and raised in Bergland, Ontario. As a young lady she worked at many tourist resorts until she met Rene Blanchard who she later married and spent her life with. In 1954 they were married in Dryden, but resided in Dyment. She was a big part of the Dyment community until her husband was employed at the Dryden Papermill. They chose to move to Dryden, where they lived for the past 39 years.
Through the years some of her favourite things have been gardening, watching sports, playing crib, Bingo and visiting with family and friends. No matter the time, her coffee pot was always on, and she loved visitors.
Cora is survived by her loving husband Rene of 49 years, six children Judy Lozej (Brian), Raymond Blanchard (Vicki), Keith Blanchard, Melina (Arnie) Jansen, Stan Blanchard (Joyce) and Beverly (Frank) Robinson, Grandchildren, Michael (Michelle), Ilene (Grant), Joe, Derek, April (Tim), Niki, Megan, Kaila, Samantha, Skyler, Preston,
Austin, Maegan, Tori, Zachary, Ryan, Great-Grandchildren; Kolton, Brooklyn, Zoe, Jake, Sam, Dominic, Easton and Andon. She is also survived by her brothers Bert and Harry Storkson. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Cora was predeceased by her parents Carl and Cecilia Storkson. Brothers Clarence, Albert and Selmer and sister Gladys Storkson. Also by her son-in-law Angelo Lozej.
Everyone who ever met her was comfortable enough to call her mom or grandma and she fit the role perfectly. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation took place at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Saturday July 24th and Sunday July 25th from 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral Services were held on Monday July 26th, 2004 at 3:00pm.
