RR Emergency Room to remain open for October

News Release
Riverside Health Care Fac.

Rainy River Health Centre is experiencing a physician shortage with the departure of Dr. Albert Beller. Recruitment for a replacement physician has been ongoing and we are engaging a recruitment firm to assist us with our efforts.
Rainy River Health Centre houses a 24-hour emergency department, three acute care beds and 21 long term care beds. The main objective will be to implement some changes in order to protect our current physician resources and avert having to close the emergency department.
Presently, we have physician coverage for the month of October 2011. We wish to assure the public that there will be NO interruption of services during this time.
We are working with our Northwest Local Health Integration Network (NW LHIN), the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MoHLTC), our physicians and community partners to address the physician shortage in Rainy River. Riverside is committed to providing the best quality care to the residents of the Rainy River District and we are making every effort to address this situation.
We will continue to keep the public informed over the next few weeks as we work toward a viable solution.
