Who are YOU protecting?
Getting a flu shot is a small action on your part but can mean a great deal to those who are most vulnerable for getting very sick or dying from influenza. A flu shot protects you, your loved ones and your community.
Seasonal influenza vaccine is available to all residents of Ontario who are over 6 months of age, free of
charge. People who have been identified as being at the highest risk of influenza and complications are encouraged to get immunized as early as possible.
Starting in mid-October, you can get a flu shot from your local Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) office or at one of our community clinics. Clinics will run throughout the fall and vaccine will be available through the winter and spring.

Look for posters and schedules in your community
Because of the logistics of vaccine supply and demand we will not be advertising clinic schedules in the newspaper this year. We want to give you the most current information. With the vaccine arriving in shipments throughout the flu season, we need to ensure our clinic schedules match our vaccine supply,
which means they might change frequently.
Flu shot season is an opportunity for the NWHU to set up readily accessible sources of up-to-date
information so the community is familiar with how to get information from us in case of a public health emergency. By learning how to access these information sources you are helping be prepared in case of another vaccine type of emergency or a future influenza pandemic (like H1N1).
Talking with staff directly gives you an opportunity to find out about other vaccines you may need too, to
best protect you, your loved ones, and your community. Call your local Northwestern Health Unit.
