R.I.D.E. checks yield charges during Operation Impact

(FORT FRANCES, ON) Members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment conducted several Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checks over the long weekend as part of Operation Impact.
At approximately 10:40 am on Oct 8, 2011, a vehicle approached a R.I.D.E check. As a result of an investigation a 47 year old Fort Frances male is charged criminally with Operation exceeding 80 milligrams. The male is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on December 12, 2011. The 45 year old female passenger in the vehicle was also charged with a provincial seatbelt violation.
At approximately 5:30 pm on Oct 8, 2011, a vehicle approached a R.I.D.E. check. As a result of an investigation a 22 year old Fort Frances male is charged criminally with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance and operation exceeding 80 milligrams. The male is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court Dec 12, 2011. The 26 year old passenger also from Fort Frances was charged provincially for having liquor in an open container.
At approximately 2:40 am on Oct 9, 2011, officers were investigating a mischief to property when a vehicle drew their attention. As a result of an investigation, a 20 year old Fort Frances male is charged criminally with operation exceeding 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on November 14, 2011.
Also, throughout the Rainy River District, more than a dozen motorists were charged with speed related offences; and 3 drivers were charged provincially with driving while suspended
