RR Public Library to hostt popular author: Library Week
Rainy River – Kenora author Gloria Hunter-Alcock will be the guest of honor for the Rainy River Public Library’s Ontario Library Week celebration.
Hunter-Alcock will read from her book Nurse at the Top of the World on Saturday, October 22.
The event gets underway at 1:30 p.m. in the library. Admission is free.
Many local residents will remember Hunter-Alcock from her 22 years as director of nursing at the Northwestern Health Unit.
Copies of her book will be available. Refreshments will be served.
Public Library Week will also feature our new preschool storytime program, “All the Colors of the Rainbow.”
Storytime starts Friday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m.
This free program of stories, crafts and games is open to caregivers and children under age six.
We will have storytime every Friday until the end of November.
Please contact the library at 807.852.3375 or libraryrr@gmail.com to register your family.
The library will also be holding a book sale and a new round of our popular silent auction.
We have more than 20 boxes of books, magazines and movies to sell, all at $10 a bag. Everything must go!
The sale and auction will run during regular library hours throughout the week. Silent auction bids must be in by 5:30 p.m. on October 22.
All proceeds go to purchase new materials for the library.
Ontario Public Library Week is held each October to recognize the work of libraries and the generous support of the community.
We look forward to seeing you!
