Police looking for public help to solve two fires in RR

Rainy River District OPP responded to two separate reports of fire in the Town of Rainy River. In regards to both fires, OPP Scenes of Crime officers, Rainy River District Crime Unit and the Northwest Region Identification Services are assisting with this investigation. The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been consulted and the investigation is continuing into the cause of the fire.

On September 9, 2011 at 6:30 pm, police and fire department officials responded to the report of a house fire on Main Street in Rainy River. The fire was contained to a residence and extinguished by the fire fighters. The building is a vacant house and there was no one injured in the fire.

On September 10, 2011 at 1:15 am, a neighbour called to report a fire inside a garage on River Avenue in Rainy River. OPP and Rainy River Fire Department responded, the fire was contained to the garage and fire personnel extinguished the flames.
