Furthermore, on December 28, 2011 at approximately 10:30 pm, Rainy River District OPP and Watten Fire Department responded the report of an ambulance that had been involved in a single vehicle collision on Reef Point Road. The crew that had responded to the snow machine crash was enroute to hospital with one patient when the driver of the ambulance lost control due to extremely slippery road conditions. One crew member received minor injuries.
OPP want to make the public aware that roadways within the Rainy River District have very slippery sections. The secondary roads are particularly slippery. Weather has resulted in warming temperatures turning to freezing resulting in icy conditions. The snowfall we have received within the last 24 hours added to the slippery conditions. Please use caution when driving and be aware of the changing road conditions.
