Catholic Board seeking public member for audit committee

The Northwest Catholic District School Board’s Audit Committee Chair, Atikokan Trustee Teresa Larson, says that, “The Board is seeking a volunteer community member to sit on its Audit Committee.” The role of the Audit Committee is to review the overall effectiveness of the Board’s internal controls, discuss with the Board’s officials the Board’s significant financial risks and the measures to be taken to monitor and manage these risks, review the internal auditor’s mandate, make recommendations to the Board on the content of annual or multi-year internal audit plans and review at least once in each fiscal year the performance of the internal auditor. The commitment is to three meetings a year. “Anyone with an accounting background who is willing to volunteer a few hours a year for this purpose is most welcome to call the Director’s office at 274-2931 or toll free 1-888-311-2931, ext. 1222,” says Audit Committee Chair, Atikokan Trustee Teresa Larson.
