OLWS celebrates Literacy Day

News Release
OLWS

On Friday January 27, the students at Our Lady of the Way School celebrated Literacy Day and Fun Fitness Friday. The theme for this year’s Literacy Day was Hawaiian Luau following our Book Fair theme this year.
Each classroom decorated their door to correspond with the theme. On Friday, the doors were judged and the grade 1/2/3 class were the lucky winners of a pizza lunch. The Book Fair ran from January 24 to January 27. Thanks to Mrs. Armstrong for organizing the Book Fair. Also thanks to our parent volunteers for helping out with the Book Fair.
On the afternoon of January 27 the older students took their younger buddies throughout the school and enjoyed various literacy activities with their buddies. Activities included crafts, word searches, creative stories, postcards, buddy reading, and fitness games in the gym. Special thanks goes out to Mrs. Latimer, Mrs. Vandenbrand, Mrs. Wood, Ms. Brielmann and Mr. Brown for running the activities and thanks to Student Council Presidents Kurt Desserre and Debonair Phillips for organizing and running the games in the gym.
