Charles “Chuck” Edward Hall, 82

Chuck Hall found peace, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, September 16, 2003. Chuck was born January 4, 1921 in Dobie Township, ON to Grace and Fredrick Hall.
In February of 1942 at the age of 21, Chuck (“Sammy”) enlisted in the Canadian Army. After training, he was posted with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles named “The Little Black Devils” and served in World War II until 1945. Later Chuck was employed by the CNR as a switchman.
On August 1, 1952 he was married to Joan Eva Kosonic of Fort Frances, ON. They resided in Atikokan, ON for two years and then made their long-time home in Rainy River, ON.
Chuck began his career with Canada Customs in 1961 and retired in 1986.
Chuck enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, especially picking blueberries. He also spent many hours building birdhouses, doing crossword puzzles and he was a loyal fan of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Along with his wife Joan, Chuck is survived by his daughter Jan(Bob) Bosma of Fort Frances, ON, his son Craig (Connie) of Winnipeg, MB and his son Jim(Denise) or Rainy River, ON, seven grandchildren, Shannon, Kristen (Mike), Danielle, Jayson, Kaitlin, Melanie and Jaime, and four great grandchildren, Jonah, Telia, Shaye and Lilyan. Chuck is also survived by his two sisters, Vera (Gene) Desorcy of Winnipeg, MB and Dolly Proteau of Winnipeg, MB, and one brother, Wayne (Jan) of Thompson, MB and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Frederick, his mother, Grace, and his stepfather, Jack Gillard and also one sister, Florence and three brothers, Jack, Rayner and Arnie.
A memorial service was held Friday, September 19, 2003 at 2:00 p.m at Knox United Church, Rainy River with a luncheon gathering following at the Rainy River Royal Canadian Legion. A private internment was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Rainy River, ON.
Honorary pallbearers were Al Markusson, Jack Rattigan, Bill Szlauko, Vern Norlund, Tom Irvine, Bill Tremblay, Herb Nelson and Buzz Miniely, and ushers Joe Kaliska and Larry Armstrong.
