News Release
Riverside HCF

Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc Board of Directors would like to announce that Allan Katz has been appointed President/CEO effective April 1, 2012
Allan has recently served as Senior Project Director of the South East community Care Access Centre in Kingston, ON. Prior to this, he was the managing director of the Health Care Network of Southeastern Ontario (HCNSEO) – a position he held for over six years. The HCNSEO is a voluntary partnership of the seven hospital corporations, the community care access centre and the public health units serving the region and the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University.

Board Chair, Michelle Marinaro stated “Our search for a leader who would support Riverside’s Vision of being a centre of excellence and who would lead the Corporation through the many changes that healthcare will be facing has been intensive and thorough. A search committee consisting of board members, along with the help of a recruitment firm reviewed and interviewed a strong field of candidates. We are confident that Allan has the qualities and abilities needed based on his record of leading complex organizations, as well as his strong executive and personal qualities.”

Originally from Montreal, Allan was an advanced care paramedic while completing an undergraduate degree in human physiology from McGill. He is also a graduate of the University of Toronto’s MHSc program and the Rotman School of Management’s Advanced Health Leadership Program. Allan has taken continued educational preparation in alternate dispute resolution, project management, principles of LEAN and appreciative inquiry.

Allan’s career started with the Timmins & District Hospital in 1987. He has since held leadership positions at the Muskoka/Parry Sound District Health Councils, Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre, FedNor and Deep River and District Hospital. He has served two terms on the executive committee of the Eastern Ontario Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (earning him the chapter’s Award of Distinguished Service in 2011) and volunteers on the Canadian Chapter of the American College of Health Executive’s Program Committee.

Allan is married to Margie and together they have two children - Ethan currently an undergraduate student at Queen’s University and Madeline, a grade 10 student in Kingston.
