Denis Nault, 73
On Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, Denis Nault of Rainy River, Ontario passed away with his family by his side.
Denis was born in St. Boniface, MB on February 14, 1939 to Ulysse and Lucienne Nault. Denis spent his early years in Atikokan, ON working at the Steep Rock Mine. On October 3, 1964 Denis married the love of his life Vicky Bernier in Rainy River, ON. Denis and Vicky lived in Atikokan, Fort Frances and Rainy River where they raised their four children. In 1987 they moved to Oakbank, MB. When Denis retired in 1994 they returned to Rainy River. Tragically in October 1997 Denis lost his wife. With a broken heart, Denis lived the remainder of his days in Rainy River, where he enjoyed his children and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a great love for the outdoors. He was happiest when he could farm, go hunting or fishing or gardening.
He is survived by his four children, Tammy (Dave) Armstrong, Lori (Tom) Abma, Leanne (Marty) Leefe and Mark (Kathleen) Nault. His grandchildren Christian (Dawn) Armstrong, Ashley (Dewey) Beckel, Rachelle and Tyler Abma, Josh and Madison Leefe and Noah and Phoenix Nault. Also his great grandchildren, Ivory, Mya and Colby Armstrong and Easton and Lila Beckel.
Denis is also survived by his siblings Noel Nault, Denise Friesen, Ida (Ed) Maryniuk, Aurel (June) Nault, Michael Nault, Oliver Nault and Linda (Gary) Foster. His mother-in-law Blanche Bernier, sister in law Deany (Dennis) Ewald and brother in law Don (Gail) Bernier and many nieces and nephews.
Denis was predeceased by his wife Vicky Nault, infant son Robin, his parents Ulysse and Lucienne, sister Irene Neddo, infant brother Roger and father-in-law George Bernier.
Funeral mass was held on Saturday May 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Rainy River, Ont. Fr. Alan Albao Celebrant.
Interment took place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Rainy River, Ont. Honourary pallbearers were all of Denis’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
