Riverside raising money for digital mamography machine

News Release
Riv. Foundation

Riverside Foundation for Health Care recently received a letter from the hospital Board of Directors supporting the Foundation to begin fundraising for a Digital Mammography unit for Riverside.
“This is great news for the citizens of the Rainy River district”, said Deane Cunningham, Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors.
“The Foundation is excited and pleased to set forth on another fundraising campaign to bring this state-of-the-art technology to the district”, he added.
“I know how important this technology is and we have put together a great group of volunteers from the district to form the “Together WE CAN” cabinet committee with Jan Beazley and Christine Ruppenstein sharing the Chairman position.”
Riverside’s Diagnostic Imaging Director, Patti Johnson, also feels strongly about the need for this technology.
“We are currently using a machine that is over ten years old and uses film that we have to develop like the old cameras people used to have. We then have to send the film by courier to be read by a radiologist in a surrounding city. This new unit will take a quicker image, reduce radiation exposure, and we will be able to send it instantly on the computer to get results faster.”
“The “Together WE CAN” campaign represents bringing the entire district together including husbands, sons, brothers, dads, the young, the old and all ethnic backgrounds because breast cancer just doesn’t affect women.” “Christine and I are excited to lead this campaign and to bring the residents of the Rainy River district the state of the art technology they deserve to help fight breast cancer,” adds Jan.
The “Together WE CAN” committee is currently working in the background to get this campaign launched. More information will be provided as the Campaign moves forward. The fundraising goal to purchase the Digital Mammography unit is $650,000.
