Verna Viola Beyak, 85

On May 17 2012 Verna Beyak beloved wife of Alex Beyak, passed away, with her family by her side, after a lengthy and extremely difficult battle with cancer.
Verna was born in Morson, Ontario on November 16, 1926 to Selma and Olf Moen.
She was raised and went to school in Morson then moved to Emo to complete Grade Nine. After working a few years in Kenora, Nestor Falls and her parent’s camp Fish Narrows she was united in marriage December 29, 1947 to her husband Alex Beyak in International Falls, MN .
During their sixty five years of marriage, while raising their children, they lived in Rainy River, Atikokan, and then Rainy River on the farm.
Verna was renowned for her delicious family dinners and Norwegian and Ukrainian cooking. As a wonderful artist, crafter, and seamstress she made her family many treasured gifts. The porcelain dolls with exquisite clothing much treasured by her granddaughters, quilts, stained glass, painting, knitting, crocheting and other things she made for family and home were beautiful.
Verna also worked outside the home as a returning officer for the Town of Rainy River, and for the Government of Ontario. She also worked hard on the farm feeding over one hundred and fifty head of cattle sometimes by herself when Alex and Mark were away working construction.
A great sense of humour and understanding nature drew many people young and old to Verna.
Verna and Alex enjoyed traveling around Ontario, Manitoba, North and South Dakota to visit family. A trip they treasured the memory of, was to British Columbia with Mark before he passed away.
Verna is survived by her husband Alex, sons Don (Elaine), Stephen (Shannon), daughters Jo and Chris. Her grandchildren Tim (Trina), Mitchell (Kristina), Ben (Dawn)
Dylan, Alexis (Matt), Rylee, Dan (Jodie), Gabrielle, and Angelica. Her great grandchildren Sebastian, Dominic, Jerzey, Lilia, Grayson, Judge, Jaxon, Savannah, Tre, Payton, Gavin, and McKenzie.
To her grandchildren she was their Gram but also their best friend because she was always there for them. Her great grandchildren were the light of her life and they loved her very much.
Verna was predeceased by her son Mark and her grandson Jeremy.
