A heinous act of vandalism

Letter to the Editor,
It is with great sadness that we have to write this letter.
Throughout the years the Royal Canadian Legion here in Rainy River has made donations to a multitude of projects. Many of which involved the hospital & youth programs.
We the Executive and Membership awoke the morning of Sunday, September 5th to find that a horrible act of vandalism had been done to our club building.
Sometime past 2 a.m. after the dance held in the hall someone, maybe acting alone, or with help, accessed the roof of the club and bent the flagpole on the north east corner and proceeded to cut the American flag off the pole. This is an act of extreme disrespect to all veterans including our friends to the south. Without them we all would not be enjoying the freedom which we owe them so much for.
We may never know who perpetrated this heinous act, but hope they may read this letter and feel some amount of remorse.
