News Release
Our Lady of the Way School is very pleased to announce that it has been chosen to be the 2011 - 2012 recipient of the Fort Frances Sportsmen’s Club Henry Miller Award for Best Classroom Contribution to Area Conservation. Our Lady of the Way School staff and students have always closely followed Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations to be “responsible citizens who respect the environment and use resources wisely.” This spring, Our Lady of the Way School staff and students participated in building 65 birdhouses, which Mr. Henry Miller stated was the most built at a school at one time and can claim to have one of the most successful bird house trails in the area, which is located on local Hyatt property. Our Lady of the Way students and staff have also supported the Rainy River Stewardship Council and have over the years participated in tree planting activities, a clean-up of Morley Park along with tree planting, and stabilization of the Sturgeon Creek River bank.
