Spruce Creek Golf Course had a beautiful day for the 1st Annual Ken Pentney Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday July 28. After unveiling a new welcome sign etched in the rock, a full slate of 50 golfers paired off for a 2 person scramble at 10:30. Much laughter and many lost golf balls later, Dan Armstrong and Dewey Beckel were declared the 1st place winners. Kevin and Rennie Nordberg tied for 2nd with Buck Morrison and Steve Niskala. 3rd place went to Jordan Hansen and Brendan Nordberg. There were prizes for knowing Ken’s top ten pet peeves about golfers, landing in the “no-mow” areas the most times and casting a golf ball into a fish painted on the fairway.
After the tournament, a fish fry was enjoyed by the golfers and another 30 friends who came out to celebrate the day.
The event raised $1,886 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
