There’s a new face and smile at the Rainy River Liquor Control Board.
Dave Lewis officially took over as store manager on August 31, 2012.
This is Dave’s first job as a manager, having come to Rainy River after one year in Thunder Bay as a full-time employee. Prior to that he worked nine years casually in London, Ont. at an LCBO.
Lewis said that he loves to fish and that is one of the reasons he and his wife came to Northwestern Ontario. Looking to move up the ladder, he kept his eyes open for opportunities once he reached Thundery Bay. “Rainy River was the first manager position to come open so I applied for it!”
He and his wife visited the community and said, “It looks nice!” He was also very impressed with the store. “This is the cleanest LCBO I have ever been in. The staff here should be very proud of their store!”
Rainy River’s liquor store is considerably smaller than the last one he worked at but since there is no Brewers’ Retail in the community it is a learning curve for him. “I have never dealt with 12’s and 24’s before. However, Andre (Bremault) has been a big help as he has been with the store for a long time.”
Lewis said that his prior experiences involved 98% of the time working on the floor. The office and ordering work is all new to him. Again he expressed his gratitude that Andre is there! He will be going for some intense training in the near future in Southern Ontario.
Lewis said customer service is very important to him and that is evident when you walk in the store and he greets you with smile.
He and his wife are renting a home in Rainy River. They have three grown kids.
In addition to fishing, they love to travel around and look for antiques.
The Rainy River LCBO is now on reduced seasonal hours, closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Open every other day of the week until 6 p.m.
