New song books put to use at long term care facility

Although we didn’t have a regular meeting in December, it doesn’t mean we weren’t very busy with the many projects we had going.
Our members were involved in work parties, making perogies, cabbage rolls, Christmas puddings, and crafts.
The auxiliary hosted the Christmas party for the seniors at the drop in Centre, with Hwy 621 providing music that all enjoyed, followed by all being served angel food cake, strawberries whipped cream and punch. We had a door prize, and each member received a small gift of chocolate goodies. A good time for all of us.
We also had a party for the residents at the hospital on Dec. 6th.
Approximately 15 of our members joined with the residents singing Christmas Carols from our new song books. Buddy Hannam played the piano. Following this we served a delicious dessert tea & coffee. Each lady member received a knitted shawl, made by our members, and the men a lap throw, also made by our members.
Our bazaar and variety show was the biggest project of all. With changes being made this year, we were all a bit apprehensive. However it tuned out to be a huge success, and we have the community and surrounding areas to thank for that. The centre was beautifully decorated in a festive decor, making it look very Christmasy, thus getting everyone in a party mood. The music, variety show, the help from the high school students (video sound serving etc), the many people who helped, members or otherwise, all made for a very enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to all.
Our next meeting is January 3rd at the hospital at 1:30. Merry Christmas to all.
