Next Monday is Family Day in Ontario and the Rainy River Recreation Centre and the Curling Club will be hosting a full slate of activities absolutely free of charge.
Things get underway at 10 a.m. at the Rec. Centre with a Family Photo scavenger hunt. Teams register at the centre and then receive a list of photos they need to find. Teams need to be a minimum of one parent and one child. First team back with all the photos on the list or the team with the most photos by noon wins a $25 gift certificate to the Roadside Restaurant. Each team is required to bring a digital camera or a cell phone camera.
At Noon families can enjoy some curling at the Rainy River Curling Club. 30 minute time slots are available and can be reserved by calling the Rec. Centre this week at 852-4446.
Also beginning at Noon is Family games and crafts. People wanting to do something indoors and stay warm can participate in a variety of games and activities on the upper floor of the Rec. Centre.
At 2 p.m. the Rainy River Legion has agreed to sponsor an hour of public skating in the arena!
At 3 p.m. the Legion has also sponsored another hour of ice time, but this one is for some pick up hockey. Anyone that wishes to play can come out and get a game going.
The Rec. Centre’s Canteen will also be open all day and the Northern Lights Credit Union of Rainy River has agreed to sponsor a free hot-dog and hot-chocolate for all participants.
