Passed away on Wednesday, February 6th, 2013 in his 83rd year. He will be rejoining his wife, Florence who predeceased him in January 2011.
Left to mourn are his children, Anna Mae (Jack), Rita (Jack), Tom (Bonnie), Peter (Bette) and Robert (Mandy).
Dad took great pleasure in his grandchildren, Matthew (Sandra), Kevin, Ian, William, Colin and Alyson.
More recently he was delighted by the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Evan Gabriel.
Richard came to Canada from Austria in 1949 and remained in close contact with his family there. He was employed by Bell Canada for many years first in Rainy River, Ontario and then transferred to Oshawa in 1959 where they spent many happy years raising their family.
After he retired, he devoted himself to painting in his studio at home, playing euchre with his partner Florence and their friends, and took great joy spending time with his grandchildren.
All who knew him well also were aware that he was an avid Habs fan.
A mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary of the People Church (570 Marion Avenue, Oshawa, Ontario) on February 12, 2013 and he was laid to rest with his predeceased wife Florence at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (355 Taunton Road East, Whitby, Ontario).
